What can we print or produce?

Screen Printing Vancouver offers a full range of custom printing solutions, including signs and banners, custom apparel, embroidery, exhibition and trade show displays, CNC and laser cutting, promotional products, and document printing. Contact us for details or visit the shop at 1065 Main Street.

What printing methods do we use?

We use screen printing, embroidery, digital printing, DTG (direct-to-garment), DTF (direct-to-film), heat transfer vinyl, and CNC/laser engraving. We recommend the method based on your product, design, quantity, and how durable the finished item needs to be.

How long does a large order with Screen Printing Vancouver take?

Turnaround on large orders depends on quantity, product type, and printing method, but we're set up to handle bulk orders efficiently without compromising quality. Send us your order size and deadline at iidowntown@gmail.com or call 604-558-1877 and we'll give you an accurate timeline.

Do We offer rush or same-day printing?

Rush and same-day service is available for select products and quantities, subject to artwork, inventory, and production capacity. Get in touch as early as you can with your deadline and we'll confirm what's realistic. Email iidowntown@gmail.com or call 604-558-1877.

Can Screen Printing Vancouver handle apparel and signage for the same project?

We regularly combine services, such as custom apparel alongside event banners or trade show materials, so an entire project can be handled in one place with one point of contact.

Artwork, Design and File Requirements

Do we help with design, or do I need my own artwork?

We offer basic design support. We can prepare, adjust, resize, and convert your existing artwork so it's production-ready, and we'll flag anything that needs to change before we print. We don't build brand identities or create designs from scratch, so if you need original artwork developed, that's best handled by a designer first. Once you have a design, submit it through the Submit Your Design page.

Can You use an AI-generated image for printing?

AI can be a great starting point for creating an idea, but AI-generated images are not always production-ready. Printing often requires properly prepared artwork, such as vector files or high-resolution files, depending on the printing method. Our design team can help convert or prepare artwork for production.

What file format should You send Us?

Vector files are best, especially for logos, screen printing, embroidery, vinyl cutting, and large-format signage:

  • AI (Adobe Illustrator) – ideal, fully editable
  • EPS – widely compatible vector format
  • PDF – works well if the artwork inside is vector, not a placed photo
  • SVG – good for web-sourced vector logos

If you only have raster (pixel-based) files, send the largest, highest-resolution version you have:

  • PNG – preferred for logos, because it supports transparent backgrounds
  • JPG – fine for photographs, but not ideal for logos or text

Not sure what you have? Send it anyway. We'll look at it and tell you whether it's usable or what needs to be done to prepare it.

What's the difference between a vector file and a raster file?

A vector file is built from mathematical paths, so it can be scaled from a business card to a vehicle wrap without losing any sharpness. A raster file, such as a JPG or PNG, is built from a fixed grid of pixels, so enlarging it makes the edges blurry or jagged. Screen printing, embroidery, vinyl cutting, and large signage all work best from vector artwork.

What resolution does your image need to be?

For raster files, aim for 300 DPI at the actual size the design will be printed. Resolution and print size are linked: a 300 DPI file that measures two inches across is not the same as a 300 DPI file that measures twelve inches across. Large-format signs and banners can often work at lower resolution because they're viewed from a distance. Send us the file along with the finished size you need and we'll confirm whether it will hold up.

Why does your logo need a transparent background?

If your logo file has a solid white box behind it, that white box is part of the image and it will show up in the print. Transparent backgrounds let the logo sit cleanly on a coloured shirt, bag, or sign. PNG, SVG, EPS, and PDF files can hold transparency; JPG files cannot, which is why a JPG logo almost always arrives with a white rectangle around it.

Why isn't a screenshot good enough?

Screenshots capture whatever is on your screen at screen resolution, which is typically around 72 DPI, well below what print requires. The same goes for logos saved from a website or downloaded from social media, since those files are compressed and shrunk deliberately to load quickly. They usually look fine on a screen and fall apart once enlarged and printed.

Your design looks great on your phone, so why won't it print well?

A phone screen is small, backlit, and bright, which hides softness and makes colours look more saturated than they really are. Print is reflective rather than backlit, usually much larger, and far less forgiving of low resolution. Colours also shift between screen (RGB) and print (CMYK or thread and ink colours), so a vivid on-screen blue can come out flatter on fabric or vinyl. We'll tell you in advance if we expect a noticeable difference.
